I am back from a disastrous trip back to my roots. My youngest aunt held an informal wedding dinner from my whole extended fanily at my mum's side on saturday night and as all family gatherings go, it was a successful pain in the backside.
It was such a painful affair that one hour into the whole event, dinner still hasnt been served, and I had already downed half a glass of cognac. The good thing about having a rich uncle is that he always have his own stash of damn good alcohol wherever he goes (it is M'sia we are talking about, so you don't really get arrested for driving around with 3 bottles of Remy Martin Cognac). None of that pathetic diluted alcohol called beer for him. And for the rest of my 10 uncles in fact. It was freaky looking at the rate the water level in the bottle drop throughout the dinner.
Well, the whole affair ended late ( for sure, since it started one hour late) so we ended up staying over at grandma's place. So now I am finally back in S'pore and I have a test and a couple of readings piling up on the desk.
I wish going back to M'sia doesnt have to feel so much like a kamikaze mission. Drunken boorish behavior, screaming brats and wailing babies, false smiles and fake laughter aside, we are all just one big dysfunctiona family, yay!
